The NASA MIRO Center for In-Space Manufacturing (CISM-R2): Recycling and Regolith Processing is seeking highly motivated students with a passion for advanced materials, in-space manufacturing, sustainability, and nondestructive evaluation to join its UIC NASA Center as summer 2025 interns. The internship provides hands-on experience with cutting-edge space technologies, including in-space manufacturing, planetary exploration, AI-enabled design, and simulation.
The center is geared toward developing materials, processes, and manufacturing technologies needed to provide an on-demand manufacturing capability for space exploration missions.
In-space recycling and resource utilization are critical to the in-space manufacturing mission as they enable a broad range of services and sustainable development.
Internship positions as a laboratory aide are available with Associate Professor Yayue Pan, Professor Didem Ozevin, Assistant Professor Jida Huang, and Professor Lin Li.
